Shou Mei White Tea (寿眉) – the name translates to “Longevity Eyebrows,” referring to the shape of the tea leaves. This is a traditional white tea from the later spring harvest, originating in Fujian province, China.
Harvested between late April and early June, Shou Mei is made from mature buds and larger leaves, which give the tea a deeper color and more intense character compared to other white teas like Bai Mu Dan. High-quality Shou Mei is hand-picked to preserve the full integrity of each leaf.
The dry leaves carry a natural, earthy aroma reminiscent of autumn foliage. The infusion ranges from pale yellow to amber depending on the presence of darker leaves. The flavor is juicy and layered, with a light tanginess and notes of herbs, raspberry leaf, green apple, and soft spices. Its aroma is delicate, floral, and soothing, finishing with a clean and refreshing aftertaste.
This is a perfect tea for slow, mindful brewing, evolving beautifully over multiple infusions.
