Ma Zhai – Yi Wu Mountain Sheng Pu-Erh 2024 – Single Tree Cake Leaves from a single tea tree.
In the heart of the Yi Wu Mountains, in a village hidden deep within ancient forests, stands a solitary tea tree. From its leaves comes this tea cake – an extraordinary sheng pu-erh from the spring harvest of 2024.
Ma Zhai is a tea of single origin, single character, and a single story – a single tree cake (monocake) that doesn’t blend leaves from different places or trees, but tells a pure, unaltered tale of one old tea bush.
The first encounter with the infusion reveals the aroma of a fresh forest – herbs, wildflowers, a touch of fruit, and a hint of damp wood. The taste surprises: there’s none of the sharp astringency often found in young shengs. Instead, you’ll find a deep, vivid sweetness, a refined bitterness, and a gentle citrusy acidity that evolves with each steep.
This tea transforms – with every infusion, with every day.
Ma Zhai 2024 is of medium strength but high elegance – perfect for daily brewing or slow aging in your personal tea archive. Its uniqueness lies not only in its origin – the hills of Yi Wu – but in the fact that it was made entirely from the leaves of one specific tree. No blending, no compromises.
Crafted in a limited batch by a small workshop continuing the legacy of the renowned Song Pin Hao brand – one of the most important pu-erh names of the early 20th century.
