Chinese Green Tea Gunpowder (Zhu Cha, 珠茶)
Gunpowder, also known as Zhu Cha or “pearl tea,” is a classic Chinese green tea from Zhejiang Province. Its name comes from the tightly rolled leaves, shaped into small, dense pellets that resemble grains of gunpowder.

During processing, the leaves are rolled in a specific way that helps preserve their natural aroma and freshness for longer. This form also makes Zhu Cha resistant to aging and absorbing external scents.

The infusion has a yellow-green colour. The aroma carries light notes of dried physalis, while the flavour reveals hints of dark honey, gentle smoke, and nutty accents, with a pleasant, slightly astringent finish typical for this style of tea.
